A simple poem, building to the final line…
When I am most alone,
Bereft and oh so stressed,
You are in me Lord Jesus,
A calm and loving guest.
When life’s cares are hard,
And my path just isn’t clear,
You are in me Lord Jesus,
So close, so very near.
When my wounds are raw,
And the pain’s intense,
You are in me Lord Jesus,
Co-feeling every sense.
When the world seems black,
And my heart takes fright,
You are in me Lord Jesus,
Sharing my soul’s dark night.
When my days are bright,
And I forget to pray,
You bear with me Lord Jesus,
Here, now, glad to stay.
Help me then sweet Jesus,
To grasp the precious now,
To quieten and be still,
And in thanksgiving bow.
